Bucket List #13 Attend General Conference

Sunday morning Jenn picked me up at Mae's and we went to temple square. I have always wanted to attend conference in person (Bucket List #13). Even when I was a little kid and conference could only hold my interest for about 10 minutes, and felt like the longest weekends of my life, I still thought it would be neat to be in the same room with the prophet as he spoke to the world.

Jenn and I were in the very end of the standby line with little hope of getting in.
I must have great parents, because even as a kid I knew what was said (even though I didn't understand most of it) in those meetings were messages from God spoken by his special witnesses.

We had a chance to talk to a sister missionary and a while later she came back with one ticket. Jenn has been before so she let me have it and she listened in the tabernacle.

I am so thankful that I have the knowledge and faith that I do. I am so grateful for a loving Savior who guides his people.
A not-so-flattering picture but a great one because we are in it together.

And I am grateful for not just great friends, but friends that lift me up and encourage me to turn to Christ instead of dwelling on the negative. Those are the best friends a person can have.

It was truly a fantastic experience for me. I have always wanted to sing We Thank Thee Oh God For a Prophet when the prophet was in the room. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang I Believe In Christ (my favorite hymn) and it brought tears to my eyes.

The speakers were inspired, and being there in person just magnified the spirit for me. I was reminded again of how important it is to have our priorities strait and that when we put Christ first, everything else will work out. I feel so blessed to have been able to have that experience.
