When we left Trinity Lake we took some time in Weaverville to walk down memory lane.
The house his parents built was for sale, and no one living it, so we were able to look around.
He pointed out how he use to love to fly paper airplanes off the top.
When they lived there his dad cut this little chair in a stump for him with a chainsaw, and even put his initials "JB"in the seat back. He tried to sit in it but was too big and didn't fit.
Had to get his picture taken in the vinca minor his mom worked so hard to cultivate, and the same spot he always had his picture taken when he was little.
His favorite climbing tree. You can see some of the boards he nailed to the tree when he was little are still mostly there.
Looks like he and I had a similar passion when we were little kids. I remember tiling a stump with nails.
The school yard.
Downtown favorites
I enjoyed imagining a little J with hammer in hand and skinned knees in his natural environment. I think I even caught a glimpse of him in the eyes of my strong/silent-type man.
I also enjoyed visiting the shoppes and even found a few treasures. I found some depression glass plates that I was able to purchase to add to my set, along with a few books, and of course our soup bowls we got from Olson Stoneware. It was a good trip, and a beautiful warm day.
