Squirrel Tales Concluded

I think last I posted about the squirrels, I think I stopped with catching and releasing Scar and Notch.... for the first time. When we got back from the ranch I set the trap again and caught a small, young looking one, I called Junior. I decided I wanted to take him to a different place a bit farther away, so I found an empty lot and released him there. The next day I caught another one then realized it was Notch AGAIN! Somehow that crazy squirrel made it's way back. In the picture you can clearly see that it has a very distinct ear. It would have been interesting to have put a little video camera on it and watched its adventure. I had no idea those things were so smart. Maybe we have homing squirrels here...

After Notch (the same day, ie. while I am trying to make multiple timely runs to the airport... gurr) I caught Skippy. If I can get the video to upload you will see why he got that name, besides the reference to the peanut butter.

Sorry for the sound of the leaf-blower, it really wasn't that loud in person, for some reason that camera really picks up background noise when there isn't someone talking.
Fortunately no more squirrels have come home. From time to time I still see one more running around, but now that the baby bluejays have grown up and flown away there is almost no bickering between squirrels and jays going on, and our yard is once again a quiet place. All my plants are staying where they were planted, and I think in a week or so I can put my Goldfinch feeder back out. It was quite an adventure, and I am just glad it was cute little fuzzy squirrels that decided to complicate life, and not something like spiders or carpet beetles, again.
